PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
SPRINT, INC., Headquarters in Overland Park, KS 2005 – 2008
Senior Telecom Design Engineer – Text Messaging Development, Overland Park, KS and Grand Prairie, TX (home based)
Analyzed, designed, planned, and implemented messaging solutions to support new business requirements. Led discussions with customers and engineers to understand the project objectives, then documented the technical requirements and implementation test plan.
* Designed a text messaging solution that resulted in a one month drop of 24% in customer service calls, with an estimated savings of $2M for 2007.
* Reverse-engineered messaging architecture, documented interface requirements, data warehousing, and reporting statistics for a large project focused on replacing the messaging platform with state of the art technology aimed at reducing costs and improving efficiencies.
* Developed draft documentation of Acision SMS reporting requirements and MVNO/MVNE/ESME IPsec VPN connectivity migration, strategy and testing; efforts resulted in streamlining the project migration process and minimizing impact to customers.
* Served as the Technical Project Lead responsible for implementing Japanese language support on the text messaging platforms. Worked with Sanyo handset engineers testing Japanese language messaging, which resulted in successful completion of the project ahead of schedule and significantly under budget.
* Designed and documented the implementation of Korean language support on the text messaging platforms, working with Helio engineers on testing and debugging handsets that supported Korean language messaging.
* Designed and implemented WAP Push using SMS Bearer as a data messaging delivery solution, enabling MVNO handsets to transparently download data from remote servers at customer locations using secure connections.
* Successfully launched WAP Push for ESPN Mobile MVNO for the debut of sports-related multimedia content services on deadline (Super Bowl Sunday).
* Successfully launched WAP Push for Disney Mobile MVNO family-oriented multimedia content.
* Started as a contracted consultant through Midwest Consulting Group. After six months, was promoted to regular employment status based on demonstrated performance.
