Proficiency in analyzing data protocols and networks. Good understanding of TCP/IP, including quality of service, flow control, congestion management, etc. Good knowledge of the inner workings of routing algorithms and route distribution protocols. Good understanding of the implementation of Quality of Service architectures, including Diffserv. Good understanding of IEEE 802.1 and 802.3 standards. Ability to effectively communicate both in written and verbal forms is a requirement. Demonstrated effectiveness in achieving company objectives in industry standards development organizations is desired. The ability to be a self-starter and work independently is required. Demonstrated ability to rapidly acquire a working knowledge of new topics and technologies. Serve as a subject matter expert on matters of data networking within the company, supporting engineering, product management and sales as needed. This may involve protocol and algorithm design and analysis, simulation and or software development. Represent the company at industry-wide standards development organizations and forums, such as IEEE 802, ITU-T, IETF, BroadbandForum and others, earning the respect of industry colleagues and influencing the work product of those groups. Masters degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent experience. Ph.D. level degree or equivalent experience desired.
