Well, at the rate that crime is increasing, having close friends murdered, friends being car hijacked at gun point, we have decided (sadly though) to leave a beautiful country for the safety of our children. We have the option of living in the UK, as my wife is a UK citizen, but we are inspired by Canada and would like to start a new life there. Oh yes... please drop the Mr bit... it's just Gary. Cheers

Calgary seems to appeal to me the most, especialy with the rookies close on hand, Toronto seems so flat and I am used to being at the foot of the mountains in Cape Town. Well I am only speaking from what I have seen on the internet & google earth. My first visit will be in September coming up... then I will be able to get a better idea. Vancouver does not appeal to me as it seems as if is always raining... 3 to 4 times more than the rest of the country.

Thanks for the link... really informative.

What do you suggest I opt for accommodation wise when in Canada in September - hotels or B&B?

Thanks for all your input... much appreciated.

Cheers

To me, I think Calgary is better, follow by Toronto, then Edmonton.

reasons for Calgary:
1) I like snowboarding
2) Toronto, even big and vibe like NYC, it has its problems
3) Calgary is the fastest growing right now in Canada, IIRC.
4) Calgary is closed to Rockies, where I can hike, snowboard and enjoy

Actually, the #1 place I will live in Canada if I moved back is Vancouver. 8)

I guess it depends on what you looking for. 8)

I used to live in Ottawa, recently moved to San Francisco.

So, you are moving to Calgary? I went to university there, nice city w/ a scenic skyline. It grows a bit too much now, but still a nice city (unless you hate -30c....)
